IHHT brings the adaptive challenge of altitude training into a controlled clinical setting.
Intermittent Hypoxic-Hyperoxic Training alternates carefully controlled periods of reduced and increased oxygen while you walk or run on a treadmill. Instead of simply delivering more oxygen, IHHT challenges the body to adapt to changing oxygen availability.
These repeated cycles are designed to activate oxygen-sensing pathways involved in cardiovascular conditioning, energy metabolism and cellular adaptation—without traveling to altitude or entering a pressurized chamber.

HOW IHHT WORKS
During each session, you breathe through a comfortable mask while oxygen concentration is adjusted in personalized intervals.
During the reduced-oxygen phase, the body experiences a controlled stimulus similar to being at altitude. Blood vessels and oxygen-delivery systems respond to the temporary change in oxygen availability.
During the oxygen-rich recovery phase, oxygen levels are restored while you continue moving or recover between intervals.
Your oxygen saturation and heart rate are monitored throughout the session, allowing the intensity and duration of each cycle to be adjusted to your individual response.
MORE OXYGEN ISN’T ALWAYS THE ANSWER
Hyperbaric oxygen therapy delivers high concentrations of oxygen under pressure for specific medical indications. IHHT takes a different approach.
IHHT is designed to train the body’s response to changing oxygen—not simply increase oxygen delivery.
The alternating oxygen environment may stimulate adaptive pathways related to oxygen utilization, vascular responsiveness and cellular energy production. IHHT does not replace medically indicated hyperbaric oxygen therapy, and the two therapies should not be presented as equivalent.
THE MITOCHONDRIAL CONNECTION

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Is IHHT the same as hyperbaric oxygen therapy?
No. Hyperbaric therapy delivers oxygen inside a pressurized chamber and has established medical indications. IHHT alternates oxygen concentrations at normal atmospheric pressure to create a controlled training stimulus.
Is IHHT better than hyperbaric oxygen?
They are fundamentally different modalities. Hyperbaric therapy delivers substantially more dissolved oxygen under pressure. IHHT is designed to stimulate physiologic adaptation to changing oxygen availability. Neither should be described as universally superior.
Will I exercise during the session?
At Living Method, IHHT may be paired with individualized treadmill walking or running. Speed and intensity are adjusted to your fitness level and physiologic response.
How many sessions will I need?
The recommended frequency depends on your baseline health, goals and response. A series of sessions is generally used because IHHT is intended to create adaptation over time.
Is it safe?
Sessions are supervised and physiologic responses are monitored. Temporary symptoms may include lightheadedness, headache, fatigue, shortness of breath or exercise intolerance. Medical screening is required.
IHHT is not FDA-approved to diagnose, treat, cure or prevent any specific disease. Research remains developing, and benefits have not been established for every proposed use. Individual results vary.
