RED LIGHT THERAPY
Photobiomodulation,
Light as a Clinical Tool
$65 per session — $250 for a pack of 5
Light is not simply something we see it is something our cells respond to. Specific wavelengths of red and near-infrared light penetrate the skin and underlying tissue and are absorbed directly by the mitochondria, triggering a cascade of cellular responses that support energy production, tissue repair, and inflammation resolution.
This process, called photobiomodulation, is one of the most extensively researched non-invasive therapeutic modalities in modern medicine, with over 5,000 peer-reviewed studies published to date.
At Living Method, red light therapy is available as a standalone session or as a complement to any existing protocol, and because it is entirely passive and requires no recovery time, it integrates seamlessly into any visit.
THE SCIENCE
The primary mechanism of red light therapy is mitochondrial. When red and near-infrared wavelengths, typically in the 630–850nm range, are absorbed by cytochrome c oxidase in the mitochondrial membrane, they stimulate increased production of ATP (adenosine triphosphate), the primary energy currency of the cell. This upregulation of cellular energy production sets off a chain of downstream effects that have been documented across multiple tissue types and clinical contexts.
Simultaneously, red light therapy reduces reactive oxygen species (ROS) and oxidative stress — two of the primary drivers of cellular aging and chronic inflammation — while activating signaling pathways involved in cell survival, proliferation, and tissue regeneration
WHAT TO EXPECT
Sessions are passive, non-invasive, and entirely painless. You will be positioned in front of or beneath our clinical-grade red light panel for a session of approximately 10–20 minutes.
There is no heat, no UV exposure, no downtime, and no preparation required.
Most patients find sessions deeply relaxing. Results are cumulative; consistent use over weeks produces more significant and lasting effects than isolated sessions, which is why our pack pricing is designed to support regular use.

Red light therapy is available as a standalone service or as an add-on to any Living Method appointment.
Red light therapy is offered as part of a physician-supervised wellness protocol and is not FDA-approved as a treatment for any specific medical condition. Individual responses vary.
CLINICAL APPLICATIONS
Skin Health & Collagen Synthesis Red light at 630–660nm penetrates the dermal layer and stimulates fibroblast activity, increasing collagen and elastin production. Clinical research documents improvements in skin texture, tone, fine lines, and wound healing. For patients undergoing hormonal changes — particularly in perimenopause and menopause, when collagen production declines sharply — red light therapy offers a non-invasive, evidence-supported approach to skin integrity.
Musculoskeletal Pain & Joint Inflammation Near-infrared wavelengths penetrate deeper into tissue — reaching muscle, tendon, and joint structures — where they reduce inflammatory cytokine activity and support tissue repair. Peer-reviewed research supports its use for osteoarthritis, tendinopathy, myofascial pain, and post-exercise recovery. Patients undergoing physical training or chiropractic care at Living Method frequently combine red light therapy to accelerate recovery between sessions.
Wound Healing & Tissue Recovery Photobiomodulation accelerates the cellular processes involved in tissue repair — increasing local circulation, stimulating cellular proliferation, and reducing the inflammatory phase of healing. This makes it a valuable adjunct for patients recovering from injury, surgery, or procedural treatments.
Mood & Circadian Rhythm Regulation Emerging research documents effects of red and near-infrared light on serotonin and melatonin regulation, with clinical applications in seasonal mood disorders, sleep disruption, and circadian dysregulation. Morning red light sessions in particular have been studied for their role in supporting healthy cortisol awakening response and circadian entrainment.
Mitochondrial & Systemic Health For patients engaged in longevity protocols, red light therapy offers a non-invasive mechanism for direct mitochondrial stimulation — complementing IHHT, NAD+ IV therapy, and other mitochondrial-targeted interventions in the Living Method protocol stack.
